THE AMBASSADOR OF ITALY , PAOLO DIONISI
Born on July 19th, 1965 in Rome. He is married and has two daughters.
He is Ambassador of Italy to the United Arab Emirates since the 4th of July 2006.
He received a degree in Political Science, with honours, from the University of Rome.
He also studied in Paris, La Sorbonne University and in Providence (USA), Brown University.
From 1988 to 1990 he served as First Lieutenant in the Italian Army.
Career diplomat since 1990. From 1991 to 1993 he served as deputy spokesman of the Italian Foreign Ministry. In 1994 he served at the Italian Embassy in Bonn (Germany). In 1998 he was appointed as Deputy Head of Mission at the Italian Embassy in Beirut (Lebanon). He returned to Rome in August 2001 where he served as Deputy Adviser for Foreign Policy to the Prime Minister until his appointment as Ambassador of Italy to the UAE. He also served as Deputy Sherpa for the G8 from 2001 until 2004.
He has also been member of several interdepartmental committees and he has been Deputy Chairman of the Lazio Region’s Technical Scientific Committee for Innovative Technologies, Advanced Research and Aerospace and he has been the Italian member of the Board of Directors of the Galileo Supervisory Authority of the European Union.
He has been member of the Committee of inquiry of the Italian Soccer Federation.
He is Commander of the Order of Merit of Italy and he has received several foreign decorations such as the Order of Merit of Germany, the Order of Merit of France, the Order of Cedar of Lebanon, the Order of Merit of the Order of Malta, the Order of the Holy Sepulchre (Vatican), the Order of St. Maurizio and St. Lazzaro.
His hobbies are golf, tennis, sailing, horseback riding
