Week of the Italian Language in the World. 20th-26th of October 2008

On the occasion of the celebrations of the 8th edition of the "Week of the Italian Language in the World", the Embassy of Italy in Colombo, in collaboration with the Embassy of Switzerland, presents on the 20th-21st-22nd of October 2008, the "Italian Film Festival".

The celebrations of the Week will be closed, on the 24th of October 2008, by "Parigi, o cara", a concert for oboe and piano with music by Giuseppe Verdi and other Italian composers, performed by Maestri Gianfranco Bortolato and Giovanni dal Missier.

The celebrations will take place at the Russian Cultural Centre, 10 Independence Avenue, Colombo 7. All events are scheduled at 6.30 pm.

Agreement for Cultural, Scientific and Technological Cooperation

During the visit in Rome of the Srilankan Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mr. Bogollagama in April 2007, an agreement between Italy and Sri Lanka for cultural, scientific and technological cooperation has been signed.
This agreement will be in effect after the ratifications exchange.

Due to the absence of an Institute of Italian Culture in this country, all the official cultural initiatives are undertaken and organised by the Embassy.
