
Economic and Trade Relations Italy-Qatar
Total trade figures between Italy and Qatar are steadily increasing, especially in the last two years due to our fast growing exports.
The capital goods quota is generally the most significant and the essential element are machineries (in particular those for production and use of mechanical power), pipes, vehicles and instruments for measuring and check. The most selling goods are furniture, jewelry, tiles and clothing.
The bilateral trade between Italy and Qatar in 2005 was almost 500 millions Euros.
In 2004, it was almost 321 millions of Euros.
The figures released by ICE/ ISTAT concerning the bilateral trade between Italy and Qatar in the year 2006 show an astonishing increase of our exports confirming the huge opportunities for the Italian exporters. The value of our products exported to Qatar reached 1,032 millions of Euros, with an increase of 102% compared to 2005.
The data released by the ICE for 2007 show another good performance of our exports towards Qatar that jumped up to 1,624 millions Euro with an increment of 60,5% the same period of 2006.
This excellent growth led Italy to join the position of second supplier of Qatar (after the United States of America and before Japan and Germany).
Qatar economy is living a period of fast economy expansion, which is driven by natural gas and oil sectors.
