The Italian Embassy in Yerevan carries out its economic activities in collaboration with the ICE (Italian Institute for Foreign Trade). The office responsible for the territory is located in Moscow. As a result of Istituto per il Commercio Estero alias the agreement signed in Rome on March 24, 2004. The concretization of the economic goals are facilitated by excellent relations between the head of mission in Yerevan and the head of the ICE Office in Moscow.

The two institutions keep in constant touch in order to co-ordinate the revelent initiatives aimed at economic-commercial promotion and at exchanging information on actions undertaken in Armenia in support of Italian enterprises.

One of the most evident outcomes of such cooperation is the setting up of an ICE "correspondence point" with an Armenian bilingual expert consultant: the antenna of the Institute, operative since March 15, 2005, represents a significant step forward in the establishment of a more organic "only shop" and will help secure appropriate assistance to Armenian and Italian businessmen interested in bilateral economic-commercial relations. To this regard, it should be mentioned that the perspectives of a more efficient are encouraged by the appointment of the Second Secretary responsible for commercial issues in September 2004.

In 2004, the legal framework was favourable for the intensification of bilateral economic-commercial relations. Thus in October 2004, a "Statement on economic cooperation" was signed on the occasion of the visit to Armenia of the Italian Undersecretary of State, Mrs Margherita Boniver, which was followed by an Memorandum of Understanding on Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises signed in January 2005 during the Armenian president Robert Kocharian's official visit to Italy. Within the framework of this visit the ICE organized a presentation on Armenia in its central residence in Rome.
