Bilateral Agreements

Below is the list of the main existing bilateral agreements. Other Agreements, already signed, are awaiting ratification and are therefore not yet in force.  

• Fifth Protocol relating to Economic, Technical and Financial Assistance, signed on 20 December 2002 and entered into force on 5 January 2004  
• Agreement on mutual administrative assistance for the prevention, research and repression of customs infringements, signed on 11 April 2000 and entered into force on 1 February 2004  
• Framework Agreement for aero-maritime surveillance in the Mediterranean for the fight against illegal trafficking at sea, with particular reference to those activities which directly cause harm to customs and revenue, signed on 20 December 2002 and entered into force on 31 July 2003  
• Agreement on readmission of persons not conforming with the norms regulating the entry in the respective territories, signed on 8 December 2001 and entered into force on 29 November 2002  
• Cooperation Agreement on mutual assistance in the fight against money laundering and use of money, property and other effects of illegal origin, signed on 8 December 2001 and entered into force on 8 October 2002  
• Agreement to avoid double taxation with regards to taxes on income and avoid fiscal evasion signed on 16 July 1981 and entered into force on 8 May 1985
