  • Born in Genoa on the 10th of November 1942.
  • Graduated in Law at the Catholic University "Sacro Cuore" of Milan on 7th July, 1966.
  • Second Lieutenant (reserve) in the "Corpo degli Alpini", 21th July, 1967. Diploma in European High Studies from the College of Europe in Bruges (June 1970).
  • Joined the Diplomatic service on 16th March, 1971. Assigned to the Department for Political Directorate (European Political Cooperation).
  • Vice Consul on 12th July, 1974 in Toronto General Consulate (Canada), First Secretary  from 16th September, 1975 and then, heald the position  of Consul from 1st January, 1976.
  • First Secretary on 28th November, 1978 and then Counsellor from 1st May, 1981 to the Italian Permanent Mission to the Council of Europe in Strasburg.
  • Assigned to the Directorate for Political Affairs (USSR and Eastern Europe), at  Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Rome on 4th June, 1982.
  • Counsellor in Bonn (Germany) on 15th September, 1984.
  • Counsellor in Bern (Switzerland) on 12th September, 1988.
  • Promoted First Counsellor on 4th October, 1989.
  • Assigned to the Directorate for Political Affairs (North America and Western Europe) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Rome on 1st October, 1992.
  • Ambassador of Italy in Minsk (Belarus) from 15th March, 1997 to 20th January 2001.
  • Consul General of Italy in Lugano (Switzerland) on 22nd January, 2001.
  • Assigned to the Directorate for Italian Abroad and Migration Policies at the Ministry of Foreign affairs in Rome on 2nd February, 2004.
  • Ambassador in Zambia from 23rd October, 2006, Malawi and Botswana, Permanent Rappresentative to COMESA and to SADC.

Married to Marie-Christine Cendrier - two children.

Official Knight of the "Order of the Merit of the Italian Republic", 1989.
