History  

Bilateral political cooperation between Bahrain and Italy has been constantly strengthening since 2002, when political and economical reforms, which created the present constitutional-monarchic regime, were introduced in Bahrain.
In the same year the Italian Embassy in Manama opened. This was a starting point for building stronger relationships with the Manama Authorities, by promoting more frequent political bilateral meetings together with various forms of collaboration in multilateral forums, and by beginning negotiations for an agreement to establish periodic and regular political consultations.
