PIERANDREA MAGISTRATI

AMBASSADOR OF ITALY TO KENYA AND SEYCHELLES  

Born in Rome on 16th March, 1946.  Obtained the Degree in Political Sciences from the University of Rome in 1968.
Began his career as a diplomat in 1970 at the General Directorate for Political Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Rome.  He served as Second Secretary in Mogadishu in 1973, and as First Secretary and Consul in Marseille in 1975.  
He was nominated Counsellor in 1980 and posted at the General Directorate for Political Affairs between 1979 and 1981.  He then served as Counsellor in Warsaw in 1982. 
Nominated first Counsellor in 1986, he transferred back to Rome in 1987 and he was nominated Chief of the RSP Bureau at the General Directorate of Personnel and Administration.  His career as First Counsellor continued in Bonn, where he was transferred in 1989 and then as Chief of the Political Bureau for Central and Eastern Europe at the Directorate for Political Affairs in 1994. 
Nominated Minister Plenipotentiary in 1996, he then transferred to the Embassy of Italy in Washington in 1998 where he served as Deputy Chief of Mission. 
In 2003 he was designated National Co-ordinator for the Regional Initiatives in South Eastern Europe (CEI, Stability Pact, Adriatic and Ionian Initiatives) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Appointed Ambassador of Italy to Kenya and Seychelles in February 2007.
