VISA

Saudi citizens need an entry visa in order to visit Italy for tourism or business reasons. The Consular Section of the Italian Embassy in Riyadh and the Italian Consulate General in Jeddah issue entry visas which are valid for all the Schengen Countries.

In order to obtain an entry visa from the Consular Section of the Italian Embassy in Riyadh you have to book an appointment by calling 01 483 48 77 any working day from 10 am to 12 am only. Please note that during the summer the appointment might be arranged after several weeks and that entry visa processing takes a minimum of ten days.

Italy-only urgent visa can be issued in exceptional cases (mostly medical emergencies) and are not normally issued for business reasons, visiting exhibitions, participating to conferences, etc.

Entry visa requests cannot be received via mail but can be entrusted to travel agencies which will follow them up with the Visa office. Please note that the Visa office may want to interview the applicant directly anyway.

NEW! Facilitations for Saudi businessmen and investors
Within the initiatives for facilitating trade and investments between Italy and Saudi Arabia, the Italian Embassy is pleased to announce the introduction of important simplifications in the procedures for issuing Schengen entry visas to Saudi businessmen and investors. Applicants in possession of a "declaration of invitation" to Italy by a firm operating in the Italian territory are exempted from submitting documents proving the condition of economic-commercial operator and the objectives of the journey. That is to say, with reference to the list of requirements, they only need to submit the "common requirements" (requirements no. 1 to 6) and a "declaration of invitation" from a firm operating in Italy. Moreover, Saudi businessmen and investors who have regularly travelLed to Italy in the recent past, might be exempted from submitting an health insurance (requirement no. 5), on a case by case basis. In order to be valid, the "declaration of invitation" must:
a) be originated by a firm active in the manufacturing industry legally operating in Italy and registered in one of the national associations or confederations rep-resented by CNEL ;
b) specify period and validity of the requested visa, aim of the journey, commitment of the inviting firm to fulfill all legal duties linked with social security and insurances;
c) mention the awareness of the penal responsibilities arising from "art. 12 del TU 286/1998 in materia di favoreggiamento all’immigrazione illegale" (penal responsibilities for abetting illegal immigration).
Attention! In case the traveler is invited to Italy by a firm or an acquaintance, it is necessary to mention in the invitation letter, the host acknowledgment of the “penal responsibilities derived from art. 12 of the T.U. 286/1988 regarding abetting the illegal immigration”.
