Massimo Andrea LEGGERI
Born in Rome, on the 6th of February 1950, he graduated in Political Sciences at the University of Roma in 1971.
In 1972 he joined the Italian Foreign Service, and began his career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Overseas Residents and Emigration Affairs Bureau.
In 1973 he was appointed Second Secretary in the Economic Affairs Bureau.
In 1976 he was assigned to the Permanent Mission of Italy to the European Economic Community in Bruxelles and promoted to First Secretary in 1977.
In 1980 he was Consul in Rio de Janeiro and subsequently promoted to Counsellor in 1983.
Upon returning to Rome in 1984, he was assigned to the Economic Affairs Bureau.
In 1986 he was Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of Italy to the United Nations Organization in New York.
In 1989 he was Commercial Counsellor at the Italian Embassy in Algeri and promoted to First Counsellor in 1990.
In 1992 he was First Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of Italy to the European Economic Community in Bruxelles.
Returning to Rome in 1996, he was assigned to the Special Secretariat of the Director General for Development Cooperation.
In 1999 he was First Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of Italy to the United Nations Organization in Geneva.
Promoted Ministry Plenipotentiary in 2002.
Since 2003 he is Deputy Director General for Multilateral Economic Cooperation.
