
Cultural Cooperation
The Embassy of Italy in Tehran promotes bilateral cultural relations promoting the knowledge of Italian as a foreign language as well as the main ressources of Italian music, theatre, arts and science.
The main legal reference for cultural cooperation among Italy and Iran is provided by the bilateral Cultural Cooperation Agreement, signed in 1958, and the Executive Protocol signed in the year 2000. In this framework, the Embassy of Italy ensures:
- promotion of the italian culture, in its various aspects (science, arts, literature);
- cooperation with the Iranian authorities for the implementation of the projects scheduled according to the Executive Protocol;
- relations with Italian language assistants in Iranian Universities
- management of scholarships granted to Iranian citizens
- information on Italian culture and lifestyle.
The latest cultural promotion initiatives organised by the Embassy of Italy
January 30th, 2008: Celebration of the Memory Day at the Italian School "Pietro della Valle", followed by the screening of Roberto Benigni movie "La vita e' bella".
January 26th, 2008: "From the eye to the heart". Exhibition of graphic works of Armando Milani organized by the Morteza momayez Foundation at the Iranian Artist's Forum.

Scholarships
According to objectives of the Cultural Agreement, signed on March 2000 between the Italian Republic and the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Italian government awards 64 scholarships annually to Iranian citizens which every scholarship is granted for one month. Generally the scholarships will be granted to attend study and research programs. In order to study Italian language, scholarship holders shall refer to specialized Italian institutions such as Perugia and Siena Universities. In addition, scholarship holders who are interested to study Arts must only refer to accredited Schools of Fine Arts and Academies of Music. For more information on scholarships being granted by the Italian government to non-Italian citizens and Italian citizens living abroad, please refer to the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs website.

"Pietro Della Valle" Tehran Italian School also offers Italian language courses for interested individuals with teachers having long experience of teaching Italian to foreigners. In addition to this, Italian language can also be studied in Iran at Tehran University (B.A. in Italian Language) and Tehran Islamic “Azad” University (B.A. in Italian Language Translation) and at Isfahan University.
